Two Tracks and Julie Swezc
I chose to use a musician that is very dear to me. Julie Swezc just recorded her first album this last week. I chose to use an artist that inspires me. Not only am I interested in the visual arts, but the musical side of the arts as well. It was my intent to capture the essence of the music, and Julie and find images that reflected her and her music. In order to make the album, I created a album title, called CrossRoads, because her music is defining the road she has been on as a person and as a musician. To collect images I used her facebook images of her playing. Then after finding other resources, I designed the album cover in Illustrator. I drew a guitar and made the text. Then with InDesign I added the other components, that would be interesting to the album cover. My hugest challenge was I wanted to use her song list in the text rather than the dummy text. But, I let that go, and just enjoyed the satisfaction of making advertisement for someone that means so much to me! I intend to use InDesign in the future, and would enjoy making another album cover after trying my hand with this project.
DADA poster, created in the application, In Design. This was a sample of how to play with text and images for an art show pamphet we will be designing later. I learned how to make text transparent, how to insert images and to alter text. I am super excited about this because I am particular about text and layout, and this tool makes it simple and savvy.
Come Fly Away
Adobe Photoshop is fun and powerful tool because you can easily create the images you may see in your IMAGINATION, and have them come to fuitition!!!
To create the image," Come Fly Away" I combined a series of photographs I took at approximately 5:30 p.m. on a glorius Sunday with my two children. With my fabulous cruiser bike my daughter named Peanut Butter, a grassy meadow, and some good participants, it turned out to be fun for all.
To combine the photographs taken and to create the image I was seeking, I used a variety of techniques. In the original photographs the first image, the background had the ususal suburba homes. I took the stamp tool and the healing brush and elimated these from the image. I went back in and added more grass and added a small horizon. Also in the first photo I was the only subject in the photo, so I had another photo with just my daughter sitting on Peanut Butter, I cropped her out and pasted her to the photo with me. Then with the stamp tool and healing brush, I smoothed out edges and added highlights. Then I needed to add my son to the back of peanut butter. So from the other image, which had just my son on the back of the bike, I cropped him and pasted him to the back of the bike in three sections so I could get him to look like he was leaning back. After touching up, I began working on blending the grass and the shadows, since the light seemed a bit different and with cropping there was some unwanted effects.
Lastly, I cropped from a resource from the internet a pair of black and white wings, and placed them on me! To keep the light consistent I went back over the wings with my stamp tool from the glowing sunset, and applied the affects to the wings. I also added highlights to my coat. Overall, I would use Adobe Photoshop again it was an AWESOME project because I saw this image in my mind, and with the tools I was able to pull off what I was seeing! Super Powerful tool!
self-portrait
The work titled Self-Portrait is a stylization from Andy Warhol's," Hot Pink Marilyn Monroe." 1967.
I used Adobe Illustrator to make a self-portrait and used the various tools available. To begin the work I took a picture of myself and then used the shape, and pen tool to define the lines within my face. After getting the composition secure, I deleted the bottom layer which had my original picture of myself. From there I built the layers with the brush tool and pen tool. This is the first project I have made with Adobe Illustator, and so I was tense at first. I realized my body was holding tight to the mouse, and I was even holding my breath. After time, I began to breath, relax and I started letting my creative juices flow. Then it became easier and more intutive as a learning experience. In the end I really enjoyed the process, and I am pretty excited at the end result.
